The Answers You Need

FAQ: FAQ

Do you offer computer and IT courses or training for beginners?

I don’t offer courses as such. A computer course is more of a class or online type of training. Because everyone learns in different ways and at a different pace, we have found that providing private computer and IT tutoring is far more beneficial for my elderly clients, particularly as we offer this training in the comfort of their own home and using their own PC, Tablet or Smart Phone.

I’m looking for a computer tutor near me, where do you cover?

I cover a great deal of the Isle of Wight. Here is a full list of the areas where I offer training for my elderly clients. I will travel to you on a day and time that suits you, so that you are able to learn computer skills in the comfort of your own home.

Can you help me understand my smart phone, it seems so complicated?

Absolutely. Smart phones are so incredibly useful and could be used for so much more than making phone calls. I will help you to get most out of your phone so that you'll use it for social media e.g. Facebook and Instagram, video calling e.g. FaceTime, Skype and shopping online confidently, safely and securely.

Am I too old for IT support learning?

You’re never too old! I have a client at the age of 90 and she’s as keen to learn about her iPhone and iPad as any younger person I know! In todays world, computer knowledge is essential if you want to maintain independence, so learning how to use technology really is a must.

How long do the computer lessons for seniors last?

The duration will vary depending on the individual person's needs. I offer a 90 minute at home session which is popular as this tends to be a sensible amount of time to spend learning before both of us start to lose concentration!

I also offer a 1-hour session at your home.

In addition I provide ongoing support over the phone if it's something quick and easy to resolve. Click here for further details.

How much does it cost for computer lessons?

A 90-minute session at home will cost £50. Each subsequent 90-minute can be reduced, dependent on location.

My 1-hour sessions will cost £35

I provide ad hoc support over the phone at £12 per 30 minutes

How do I pay?

The easiest and safest way to pay is by credit or debit card. I will take payment at the end of the session using a card reader. However, if you prefer, pay by cheque or cash.

Who is Senior Surf for?

My computer skills training sessions are specifically for senior people; those who grew up in the era before computers and smart phones were commonplace. If you lack confidence but really want to learn how to use your laptop, tablet or smart phone, feel free to give me a call or email for a no-obligation chat to see how Senior Surf can help you.

Do you provide support / repair services?

No, Senior Surf is a computer learning facility for the elderly, and support issues should be handled by specialists.
